It's not often that a local restaurant reinvents
itself for the better, but when Chef Paul Novak came out of Seattle with
21 years of experience and sophistication, he brought Sea Venture's
flavor to new heights.
Let me tell you about the excellent 5 course dinner
we had on Friday night. It started with an amazing bistro plate.
The attention to detail was prevalent in this delicious appetizer.
It featured almonds that were roasted and infused with fresh candied
orange peels, rosemary, and olive oil. The dish also featured
artichoke hearts, roasted garlic, and memorable roasted bell peppers,
bell pepper spread, and goat cheese all beautifully plated with thinly
sliced toasted bread.
Next up were the mixed field greens featuring sweet juicy pairs, a generous helping of blue cheese, and
tender baby greens. This is a salad that I will order again and
again.
Then the bouillabaisse was served. It was
surprisingly delicate as the calamari was very tender and the muscles
and clams were so well married in this gentle broth. Mild,
delicious, and
satisfying.
The lobster that I ordered was cooked perfectly and
presented with elegance. The tiny baby potatoes, young and crisp green beans, as well as fresh sweet corn
were a delicious compliment. I must say that I cannot recall better
lobster - it was so tender and sweet!
Finally dessert: the Mexican flan with caramel melted
silkily in my mouth;
the peach cobbler, served in a a little baking dish, had a fluffy, buttery
crust, and is by far one of the best desserts I have ever enjoyed.
The delicious food paired with the friendly service
and the view of the coastline makes for dining that is perfectly
elegant. My husband enjoyed the porterhouse steak and said
it was one of the best he ever had.
So don't just take my word for it, see for yourself.
