Avila Beach is a small seaside town located next to San Luis Obispo. There are three piers, a small fishing harbor, and a beautiful beach often packed with sunbathers. The waterfront is lined with small restaurants, and bars that offer an interesting nightlife. On one of the piers you can find fresh fish for sale. Pelicans are always hanging around hoping to find some scraps of fish from the fisherman!

If you come to Avila Beach in the fall, what are you most likely to find?  Perfectly warm weather, and a quaint little pumpkin patch brimming to the top with happy children, lovely families, dozens of different types of gourds, squashes and pumpkins as well as a petting Zoo for children with creatures such as Emus, Ponies, sheep, chickens and a lot more.  You will also have the opportunity to go through an elaborate hay maze and for your little tots there is even a small hay maze.

But my personal favorite about the Avail Barn has got to be a toss up between the gift shop overflowing with delectable pies as well as beautiful findings and the complimentary hay ride, that takes you and your family out to the pumpkin patch you then have the option of picking out what ever pumpkin you want!  While I am out there I always stop at the apple orchard and fill a basket to the top with crisp juicy organic apples.  My children and I also pick and eat some of the juicy boysenberries.  And finally when my children have found there favorite pumpkins we hop on the Hay ride that takes us back up to the barn.

And if you go to Avila Beach you will be amazed at just how kid friendly it is!  There is a beautiful beach as well as a park with slides, monkey bars as well as towers, seahorses and whales that your child can climb.  Even a Pirates ship!  Avila beach is also a must for beach combers, go down to the beach, you will find a multitude of agates, ocean jade, granite rocks, seashells and heart shaped stones.

Also if your an avid bird watcher or just enjoy nature you are certainly in for a delight.  Avila beach is home to the endangered pelicans, sand pipers, seagulls.  As well as geese, Canadian geese, ducks and beautiful swans that wade and feed in the river mouth that runs along the golf course.
