Morro Bay Surfboard Art Festival at SLOMA - San Luis Obipspo, CA

1010 Broad Street
San Luis Obipspo, CA 93401

The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, in partnership with the Morro Bay Surfboard Art Festival, will bring close to a dozen unique surfboard art installations to Farmers’ Market in Downtown San Luis Obispo on Thursday night, November 2. The size, unique shape and bright, eye-catching colors of the surfboards will attract Market-goers of all ages to the outdoor display. (Broad Street, between Higuera and Monterey Street). Local Central Coast artists transformed the donated and re-purposed surfboards into beautiful works of art. The Museum of Art, open for the duration of Farmers’ Market that night, will have a skateboard themed pop-up exhibition on display in the Nybak Wing. Decorated skateboard decks, on view from a private collection, will adorn the walls, along with photography and videography from Sean Stromsöe. Stromsöe was instrumental in helping build the first skatepark in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Also at the Museum that night: the Día de los Muertos candlelight procession, which starts at The First Presbyterian Church (981 Marsh Street at Morro), goes through Downtown San Luis Obispo and the Farmers’ Market, and finishes off at the Museum around 7:15pm. To top it all off, adults (18 years and older) are eligible to enter a drawing to win two round-trip Alaska Airlines Tickets when they sign-up to receive information about the Museum of Art’s Building Fund.
