Saturday, December 2, 2006
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Oakbrook Park Chumash Interpretive Center
3290 Lang Ranch Parkway
Thousand Oaks, California 91362

Redbird is hosting its annual toy and school supplies drive on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at the Chumash Interpretive Center at Oakbrook Park in Thousand Oaks.  Donations of new, unwrapped toys and basic school supplies will be given to Native American children and families in need of assistance.

Visitors will have the chance to meet today's Chumash and California native people and witness a number of cultural demonstrations, explore the park and hiking trails, listen to the Crooked Hat drum and enjoy refreshments.

Donations of toys/school supplies or donations to Redbird are welcome; there is no admission fee.  Redbird is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational and charitable association based in Simi Valley, California, which promotes Native American cultural awareness and preservation, and provides direct assistance to families in need.

This is a family event and all people are welcome.  In accordance with park rules, dogs are not allowed.  For further information, to volunteer or contribute with an educational or cultural exhibition or display, please contact Redbird by phone or email:

( A special note to our friends: attached in a word document is a flier that is the same as the body of this email, in the event you would like to print and distribute this information.  If you are a California native or of other tribal affiliation and would like to have an educational display, please let us know.  This is a multi-cultural gathering, and we do not have vendor spaces available.  We would like to keep the focus educational and fun.  There is plenty of room for volunteers, and we are in need of about $100.00 prior to the event to provide food to our guests, both native and non-native.  Pot-luck style dishes are welcome.  Dancers are welcome to bring regalia. We hope to see you there!)
